Metal is fun!
My brother’s recent metal phase has at least introduced me to the wonders of sci-fi metal. I don’t think any other genre of music has quite so many science fiction themes.

The good:
Tilda Swinton and Taraji P. Henson
Lovely score
Beautiful to look at - great costumes, sets, and cinematography; Brad Pitt being attractive (once he reverse ages a little)
The bad:
The framing story - boring and Titanic-y and I hated old Daisy and the hurricane
So fucking long, and it felt even longer than its actual length - a good editor could have trimmed at least a half hour...

This article about FOX winning the movie rights ends with a description of how the ending of the film has been changed, no longer resembling the one in the graphic novel. I don’t know how I feel about this. Until I read Nikki Finke describe what happens, I didn’t realize how ridiculous it sounds. But it’s still great. I don’t know.

It is hard, on the drive to the movie theatre to see Milk, to make sure not to mention that the kid in the pink beret from High School Musical is one of the characters.
